Re: Brexit.part import
I ordered parts worth about STG£100 a few weeks ago. I got a text from DPD UK saying that I owed €30 which included a €6.50 brokerage charge. This had to be paid (by paypal) before they would ship the parts to Ireland. With no Parcelmotel for the time being, we better get used to it.

Re: Clubman Estate Decal / Stripe Colour ?
Sticky Fingers (Martin Cull) is the man for decals. Many of us know him personally from attending IMMs over the years. He will do either standard or custom decals if you want. I used him for the side stripes on my Clubby estate.

With all the great effort (and expense) you're putting into the car, it would be a shame if you couldn't store it indoors properly. Talk nicely to Santa!

Good luck with your Mini. Many's the project started off as a small repair and ended up as a major restoration.

The other known issue is the quality of the expansion tank tops. As Woody says, the system needs to be pressurised to work properly.

Re: mini cooper s 2000 overheating
Terry,
What thermostat are you using? Mpi's run hotter than carb Minis. I had overheating problems with my old 98 mpi but it was a common problem with a sensor which was activating the fan. There was a factory upgrade which cured it. The other possibility is that your 20-year-old rad has silted up.

That Mini belonged to a friend of mine in Cork. He fitted an upgraded Metro turbo set-up into it for his daughter. She thought it was too fast so they sold it.

Re: Problems Starting mk3
Re clutch: once you've got car running, turn off engine then put it into first. Keep your foot on the clutch. Turn on ignition. The car will jump forward but keep that foot on the clutch. Usually the clutch will free after a bit. Don't attempt any of this without working brakes and plenty of outdoor...

Re: Clubman Estate Barn Find - Co. Galway
The Mpi injection system is very easy to work with once you realise that the 13 or so wiring connectors and pipes can only fit one way. Stripping out the original injection system and fitting the upgraded one is very straightforward. Thankfully it started with the first turn of the key and I got to ...

Picked up a 52mm Burlen throttle body and a ported inlet manifold recently on eBay. I had already fitted a big valve head so it made sense to improve the breathing.

Even easier. Just cross the two positive & negative on the solenoid itself with a screwdriver.
I usually fit a push button solenoid to my minis.
