Which Cylinder Head?
I sent my 1275 block to the engineering works today to have it bored out for 73.5mm pistons. Can anyone tell me which is the best cylinder head to use? I dont want to spend a fortune ordering one from mini spares. I think what I'm looking for is a metro head.

Didn't get pistons yet. Hoping to bring it up to 1380cc. Guy in the engineering works is checking out pistons for me.

You need to do a bit of homework, it's not just a matter of throwing a few bits together.

Re: Which Cylinder Head?
Hi all that depends on what you want out if it.
Do you want it to be used everyday / easy to drive or outright power high up the rev range.
Be warned if you built a screamer you won't like it when you won't get power below 4000 rpm.
Some suggestions.
Do your own head following the yellow bible. This can be done on a budget.
Or pay loads of money for a new head done by the likes of minispares.
Their heads come from Keith calver who has his own website too.
No harm in having a chat with him.
He also supplies nice cams. I used the re13ot with great results.
The sw5 cam from swift used to be a good cam too but tends to wear fast these days.
What kind of power are you looking for and what kind of driving will you be doing that's the main question you should be asking yourself.
Aim for good torque from early in the rev range. You won't regret it that way.
By the way I am selling a 2nd hand head already modified.

Dan,
Was the block rebored before to 1293, 1310 etc? Once you wear out a 1380, that's it.

Bill
Went for 73.5mm pistons so that will be 1380. I have been told that with a kent 266 cam it should be a nice fast road engine.

Re: Which Cylinder Head?
I always thought the 266 was a mild road cam.

Re: Which Cylinder Head?
Md 266 is an old profile at this stage.
Much nicer cams available these days.
