Minis to Ireland
Just wondering is anyone from the club is doing this? 'The Minis to' event is done by the minicooperregister and this year is coming here. See link http://www.minicooper.org/index.php/xministox Just wondering as Simon Drew from The Mini works who I was speaking to when I was in Edinburgh the other week said he is doing to run. I suggested maybe trying to meet with them with a few from the club while they were over here. It would may not be possible just said would pop it up here to see what people think? May even could try organise a run to meet with them at one of there stops.

Re: Minis to Ireland
Traveled to Letterkenny today to see if I could meet up with the Mini Cooper Register tour. Yes I did and found them to be a lovely bunch. Chatted to several including the lady who decides the course, makes out the Road Book and Quizzes and make all the arrangements. Next year the head for Monte (they're no allowed to use Monte Carlo, I' told). Here's a few photos.

All seemed to be hard-working cars, no shine 'n show. A few Circuit of Ireland veterans among them.

Re: Minis to Ireland
Last night I had dinner with the Mini Cooper Register in the Celtic Ross hotel in Rosscarbery as a guest of the MCR along with Jack Daniels' daughter Tina and her husband Mike Murphy. As you know, some years ago Tina and Mike presented the IMOC with the Jack Daniels Perpetual Trophy which is awarded each year to an IMOC member at the annual camping weekend. I had arranged to have Jack's technical notes on display which went down a treat as there is so much material that most people have never seen.
On behalf of the IMOC, I welcomed the group to Ireland and it seems they have received a great welcome all around the country and many came up to me during the night to say that they intended returning to Ireland. The fog meant I couldn't take photos but the 30+ Minis outside the hotel looked fantastic, including the two Works rally cars.
Today the convoy follows the coast by Kinsale and have a coffee stop around 11am at The Two Mile Inn near Midleton. They then head for Lismore and the Vee before finiishing up tonight at the Rhu Glen hotel in Co. Wexford.

JP,
You're correct about the hotel. The Rhu Glen was a coffee stop.
