Hi new to this - can anyone advise on what might be the cause of problem - car dropped a valve and took €1500 to rebuild - was going fine at first then warning light came on - have had it back 3 time's to garage but it is still sounding rough and drinking petrol - at this stage it has had head skimmed, new oxygen sensor's, cam follower's, new timing chain - had just been put on machine to clear engine warning light twice - no light on now but now back to drinking petrol and sounding rough with not a great deal of power - any help would be great before my wife has a breakdown

did you take it to a BMW dearlship or SIMI registererd/aproved garage? after that much work (and money) i'd expect it to be back to factory spec.

Was the work carried out in a BMW dealership or private garage? A diagsotic reader should be able to point you in the right direction. Sometimes aftermarket readers don't have the same scope as BMW readers so it may be worth getting a diagnoses at a main dealer. Droping a valve can do a lot of damage and the repair can involve removing and striping engine so the fault could be anything from an incorrect part fitted to a bad reconnection of a sensor the scope is too big for you to get an answer here without a lot more detail of the problem.
