Fitting 13" Sportspack wheels

Post by cod7 »

Hi, my friend recently bought a 95 Rover Mini BRG Jap import and the first thing he wanted to upgrade were the wheels, so against my advice, he bought 13" Sportspack rims! However, they're rubbing the front inner arches (like I told him....)

So the question is, what does he need, and where does he need to cut/modify the inner arch? We're both brutal when it comes to this kind of stuff, hence I ended up selling my Mini, so any advice is appreciated. Hope to be out in Modello in two weeks time in it.

Thanks, Ciaran.

Factory Minis with 13" had the wings cut back and also were fitted with a different steering rack to reduce the steering lock.

Time to get out the hacksaw.

Mini Spares have a downloadable template to assist in the fitting of Sportspack arches that also shows where the body needs to be cut for the wheels.

You may want to consider not cutting as much as this off though and leaving some metal to form a replacement lip which will give strength to the wing as per the original.

The car's pretty much standard, so small arches, original ride height and rubber cones. That link seems to be spot on, thanks for the advice. Now for the cutting....

I'd invest in a set of hi-lo's and new knuckle joints tbh, worth it in the long run.
