Some speaker wire (split the two cables and use one)

Don't use fairy liquid, WD-40 is made from fish oil and won't damage the seal, vaseline is also good, but has been known to cause issues down the line.

Before you start, make sure the seal fits. There have been quite a few batches of seals recently that were too big for the window they were meant to fit.

For the filler strip, I have found a watchmakers screw driver with masking tape over the tip works well.

Sealant wise, anything I have done has never needed a sealer, but Tiger Seal is my weapon of choice for weather proofing grommets and engine bay holes. It can also be tidied up quite nicely by licking your finger and running over it in a smooth action if required.
