hey all, just wondering if anyone can help me, love the sound of my mini but id love it even more if it backfired  so I was thinking of removing the cat, and put it back on for nct and all that, anyone got any advice or know how to do it, I have a millennium twin DTM exhaust :)

I presume its a removable cat yea ? I had the same idea and being 1989 it doesnt need to pass in emissions so it'd be no problem in that way so is it as simple as making a straight through pipe the same diameter as the system and making brackets to suite or would there be more to it ?

Not too bad, if I wanted to could I cut the brackets off of the cat on the exhaust and get some stainless tubing and weld them on ?

Gaskets or gasket sealer would be handy :D

Well then your sorted :) another barbarian method if you had a spare cat would be to get a crow bar and break up the filters in the cat but then that would just act as a slight resonator compared to a straight pipe and if your considering making your own maybe you could reduce the diameter of the pipe to add a slight rasp to the sound

Sorry to hijack thread but its on topic

Can a shallow cat be got ?
Any time im on a ruff road thats all that catchs unless its a stupid road when the sump guard hits the grass in the middle

I know a de-cat pipe would solve it all but effort of having to change it once a year

You could fit a striaght through decat and fit a butterfly valve aswell and run a cable into the cabin and pull it to close the valve for the nct

A y piece to cat pipe of an lcb can be twisted to raise the cat out of the way and snug in the tunnel.
