Hi all,
Just wondering if the two are related. I have no heat coming into the car from the heater no matter how long the engine is on for. On top of this, if the car is sitting for a few minutes, the temp gauge goes all the way to the red, but the radiator doesnt seem to get any hotter. Are these two related, and if so, whats causing it? Dodgy temp sensor?
Thanks

Two are related, check rad for water, if this does not fix it your water pump might be shot.

Thanks for the responses. I should have mentioned, when I drive the car, the temp gauge goes all of the way back down again.

Re: Over/Heating - Related Issues?
Once the car is going forward most of the cooling is done by the air passing through the grill, over and around the engine, the radiator/fan do the cooling when the car is at low speed or idle.
You need to replace the water pump, make sure you get the correct one for your engine. There is one for cars with a bypass hose and one for those without.
