Timing

I've got a 1275 engine trying to get in going in a project problem is when I put it in it locked up took it out and was told the timing was way out got it sorted and put it back in only for it to lock again any ideas can the timing be done while in my the car is there anything else I should be worried about

Make sure the bolts holding the slave cylinder onto the flywheel housing are the correct length, too long and they will lock up on the teeth of the flywheel.

Will check that out is it possible to redo the timing without removing the engine again

not sure what you mean by "locked up"....
the ignition timing is set by turning the distributor clockwise or anti-clockwise until its correct for the spec of the engine. if its the original distributor that came with the engine then you can refer to a manual to find what the correct setting is, usually given in degrees before top dead center. ignition timing can be adjusted without removing the engine.
another "timing" is timing of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft. usually not an issue unless the engine has been re-built, the cam changed or timing chain replaced. usually the engine is removed for this job.

Tmg you are a saint saved me removing the engine turns out I had the wrong length bolts removed them and she turns nicely cheers you saved me hours of hard work and head scratching
