Snapped Stud

Hi all,
As the title suggests, one of my studs snapped (front passenger) as I was tightening the nuts. How do I go about replacing the stud, or am I better off bringing it to a puncture repair place?

On a related note, how safe/unsafe is it to drive with one snapped stud?

Wheel studs are splined into the hub from the back . So all you need to do is remove the wheel and smack the broken stud through to the rear ,slip a new one in from the back and pull it through with the wheel nut

Perfect! Thanks for that. I was concerned I'd have to remove some of the brake assembly! I can pick studs up in Motor factors I assume?

Na unless you local motor factors are minispares but they aint hard to get on here

Is it safe(ish) to drive on the 3 studs?

Indespension studs (ask for the ones that fit HU004 Hubs) are the same as the front studs on disc braked mini's.
There is an Indespension Depot in Finglas....google it.
To be honest unless you remove the flange from the hub(4 bolts & a hammer) you will slightly damage the new studs when you fit them.
Also, if you take it handy and avoid any fast bends etc you will be OK for a few miles on 3 studs (unofficially, of course).

Thanks for all the replies. Had a quick look there and not sure what size studs to get. Looks like 9mm wide and roughly 45mm length? It's a 1980 1275GT on 12's if that makes any difference?

Edit: Nevermind! Just remembered that I've a set of spare discs in my other mini. Just going to take one if the studs off them!

Tried hammering out the stud today, but I've noticed that the hub (?) is overlapping where the studs would come out, so they can't slide out. I assume I need to remove something, but I've no idea what. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Reading through the Haynes manual, I've kinda figured it out, but stuck. I removed the retaining pin and 4 bolts from the hub. However, trying to remove the hub (which I assume is the part the wheel attachs too), I just can't get it to turn. I assume it's anti-clockwise? It's moved about an inch but now won't move any further. Is there a trick to this?

The drive flange can be stubborn and hard to remove, It's easiest to do with the disc assembly off of the car.

the way I do it is use a bar put it between the studs to stop the hub spinning then put a breaker bar on the castle nut and stand on it a few bounces and it should come loose, failing that a cold chisel and a hammer will break the nut.

Fitted a set of wheel studs at the side of a very busy Donegal road very early in the morning to Mick Glennons mini clubman back at MTM and due to only having a short supply of wheel studs he completed the rest of mtm and home again on 3 wheel studs.
