Irish Mini Owners Club

As i will be getting into my project wit the exams over and it has no engine and will be referbing the suspension and fitting the engine and getting it running (bodywork is perfect only one rust spot on the hole car)
What tolls will i need to get for a mini restoration ?

Tools i have :
Ball joint splitter
Torque wrench
Big socket set just got it for the tower bolt socket
Also have a smaller socket set
Have the cone conpression tool
And windscreen sprip tool thing
Have a chain pulley in other shed but not sure on max weight but porbably would lift a engine
Vise
Bench grinder
Angle grinder
Grease gun

Even tho theres not much welding to be done i dont plan on doing it myself but im sure i will on furture project do ye recommend spending 250+ on a welding course of should i but on and learn by practice?

The 2 large sockets needed for the Mini used to be 1"1/2 and 1"5/16 however some of the newer CV joint kits come with a metric size nut that requires a 38mm socket.

A proper punch for drifting out the roll pin in the gear linkage is an invaluable tool, it has a small pip on the end to help locate the drift on the pin which stops mushrooming the head of the pin.

An Ezi-bleed kit for bleeding the clutch or the brakes when you're on your own in the garage at 1:45 in the morning.

A good set of 6 walled imperial combination spanners.

A breaker bar or a length of scaffolding pipe to fit over a socket set's sliding T-piece to give you extra leverage for undoing stubborn hub nuts/flywheel bolts.

A basin or similar and some small paint brushes and paper towel for cleaning parts.

I'd add a big box of disposable gloves, barrier cream, eye protection, WD40 and gunk de-greaser.

Diposable gloves afraid to get ur hands dirty ? Jeysus i hate wearing gloves

Set of ring spanners and cut a hole down through one for the brake pipes if your doing those too.

That and a long nose vicegrip make taking them off so handy as I found they can be a nightmare to get off if you round them!

You can get proper break pipe spanners as well as a spanner for the break adjusters on the rear of the Mini.

i found sears last night and i think thats the 1 set of spanners that isnt available for international shipping!!
like you said, crazy shipping costs though

some pliers, snips, junior hacksaw (+ extra blades as they snap like twigs when you need them) and a large adjustable grips

a good book of swear words, you'll find an time when you will use most of them

Used plenty if them last night changing my engine steady
