IMM2013 - Mugello, Italy 17-20 May 2013

Post by Billy »

The 2013 International Mini Meeting will take place in Mugello, in northern Italy.

The official site is now live http://www.imm2013.eu/index.php and you can now register. Most of the site is still under contruction though.

For anyone who has never experienced an IMM, and especially a mainland Europe IMM, it is a gathering of Mini enthusiasts from all over Europe with a party each night. The Irish Mini Owners Club is held in high regard at IMMs and we hope to have a large convoy of Minis making their way to Italy next year.

Here's the official facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/groups/imm2013/

If you're thinking of holiday plans for next year, and yes it's a long way off, then consider taking part in IMM2013.

The registration fee (€60) covers the cost of your camping for the weekend, an evening meal on Sat and breakfast on Sunday.
I reckon that you're looking at a ballpark figure of €1000 for the ferry, tolls, motels en route and petrol.

Then, based on this years IMM, you'll some need beer & food money and maybe crutches or plasters in case you get slapped on the dance floor.......

Talking to people at Mosney yesterday and there seems to be a lot on interest in doing this next year.I intend on taking a couple of days travelling each way to avoid tolls and enjoy all the scenery and countryside that France and Northern Italy have to offer. :D

Irish Ferries Terms and Conditions here:
http://www.irishferries.com/ie/tesco.asp

Celtic Link Ferries dont participate in the Tesco Deal but they are a lot cheaper than Irish Ferries Rosslare to Cherbourg.
We've used Celtic Link last year and they are fine. The far lower fare balances out the lack of extra facilities on the boat.

Friday Ferry Freebies on Facebook

Celtic Link Ferries are delighted to introduce its Friday Ferry Freebies campaign. As part of this never before seen promotion Celtic Link Ferries will be giving away return trips between Ireland and France this May, September, October, November and December. This trip will include two adults, a car or campervan with a cabin both ways (subject to availability).
All you will need to do is LIKE and SHARE Celtic Link Ferries on its Facebook page.

Once again Celtic Link Ferries are finding new and different ways of transporting people between Ireland and France for as cost effectively as possible.

The English ones aren't the same. They're too big and it's a different crowd.

Good man John,

If you ask any of the lads that have done both, a big part of the attraction of the European IMMs is the roadtrip. 7 of us brought 4 Minis to Germany in 2010 and stopped off at the Nurburgring to watch Woody drive his turbo around the 'Ring. Actually come to think of it, has anyone seen him since cos we gave up waiting?

I was also at IMM2009 in Birmingham and loved it, but after going to IMM2012 this year in Hungary, there is no comparison.
Birmingham was great craic and I partied away but the smaller continental venue means that you get to meet & interact with more people.
That, I did a lot of :!:

The IMM isn't taking place at the Mugello Circuit Billy, I think it's in Barberino Di Mugello 50031.

It's early days yet for booking ferries as they don't have their timetables planned until about 6 months in advance.

However, based on current sailings (Celtic Link & Irish Ferries have similar times) I'd be looking at going out on Saturday 11th May 2013 on the Saturday evening ferry, arriving into Cherbourg nicley refreshed on the Sunday about 4pm. Being a Sunday, the roads will be much quieter so we could make a good spin
down across France before stopping off for the night and then we'd still have a few days to saunter down to Mugello.

Coming home, I'd be looking at the night sailing on Friday 24th, arriving back into Rosslare in the afternoon on the Saturday.
IMM2013 finishes on the Monday 20th so we'd have time to saunter back to Cherbourg, taking in the sights and avoiding motorways.

All loose plans at the moment but it gives you an idea of the timings involved.
