just wondering, how strict are the nct guys on exhausts, i only bought my mini recently and it has a fairly wide bore exhaust, its not mega loud, but loader than a normal one, will i have to change it?

and generally, how strict are they on mini`s, i mean, our brakes arent like new cars

Don't think you will have a problem with exhaust noise, but as for being less strict with Minis, not a chance, the tests are the same for everyone, and there is no reason why when set up propperly, your brakes would be less effective than a new car.

To add weight to Neil's response, I have a 56-year-old car which has to be NCT-ed every year as it does weddings and they use the same test levels as a modern car.

im sure it`ll be fine, the only thing i can think of, off the top of my head is the window washer not working, comes out the passenger side, just not mine :x

as for the breaks, i find them fine, you have to press them a little harder than a new car, but they do the same job, sure ill just do a few checks obvious checks and send it down, if it fails, ill just have to get it fixed

thanks for the info lads

Just get a pin and poke it in the hole of the washer, wiggle it about a bit and loosen any gunk that in there (polish, sediment) a few squirts o water through it and it should be fine.

Don't forget to align it properly when your finished.

When you had the pipe off, did you try the washer to see if the water was getting that far, process of elimination and all that.

I have an full sports exhaust on a mini and they weren't bothered about it. They did tell me I needed a catalytic converter though as the emissions set of the alarm in the centre.
