Newbie Question
Hi my name is Stuart I am new to this whole mini thing. Always wanted one so finally bought one last week. I will have to NCT it the next few weeks and was wondering if there is any major things to have looked at before I even book an NCT. Don't want to book it in if it is an obvious fail. I have a 1996 Cooper anniversary edition it has had loads of work done on the engine by the previous owner and from what I can tell drives great.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

Re: Newbie Question
Welcome Stuart: there as many schools of thought regarding NCT prep as there club members i think... handbrake adjustment is probably the easiest/most likely issue, all other things being ok. check the bulb in the rear foglight too.
i wonder was there much work done to the engine *since* the last NCT? later minis like yours have a fairly strict emission test and can be tricky to pass if extensivley modded.
where abouts are you based?
keith

Re: Newbie Question
As Keith says about loads of work done on engine!!
Check under the car for any rust ,if you see any clean and prime it.If you see a hole fill it and prime it. What the NCT guys don't see they can't fail you on.

Re: Newbie Question
best advice I could give you aswell as whats written above would be to make sure your water bottle is full,
windscreen wipers are working properly,
tyres are pumped to the correct pressure,
lights inside and out are all working,
number plates are both legal and on the car,
seat belts are in good working order, and the emissions are good,
and then pull together as much money as you can to fix whatever it's gonna fail on because it could fail first time,
but at least if it does fail on anything after this you will now know what needs fixing to get it through on the retest
