Hi All, I've lost the 'key' for the wheel nuts on my 1998 Cooper, it looks to be a standard rover lock nut, pics below. I'm in Blanchardstown, so if anyone in Dublin had a lend of one for 10 minutes it would be much appreciated. I just need to get them off and put on the new ones I bought (I've only 3, so needed to replace anyway)Image

you could try getting an old socket and hammering it on over it, would want to be a very tight fitting socket or slightly too small

I bought a Mini with a locknut on each wheel and to get then off I welded old nuts to the locknut and got them off that way.Took a whole day though and they did not have stainless covers.

Des,

Ryan's garage in Blanchardstown village used to be a Rover dealership, they may have some old sockets about the garage.

I bought a mini 18 months ago same issues / lock nuts with no key for them, the only place to sell it was ryans in blanchardstown which i believe charge 27 euro for the key.

I just tapped away at it slowly with a hammer and long flat headed screwdiver / took me about an hour but it did the job of loosening the nuts enough to take it off with another wheel brace. I bought a new set of lock nuts of the internet for about a tenner.

The one that has a cover on it is only that / a cover / you can actually pull this off - i did it with a small pointed head pliers. all in took about an hour but was quicker than going to blanchardstown, ordering and collecting a piece.

Hi All, thanks for the suggestions. I got them off, turned out to be very easy, I cut 2 bolts (about 5mm across) about 1cm long and put them into the 2 cutouts, then tapped on a very tight socket and they just unscrewed. I think I was lucky, they were not tight.
