Hi all,
As the title suggests, I want to change the oil and oil filter. I'm a complete mechanical novice, and I am learning something each time something breaks! Can any any provide a good guide on best way to do to do the above. It's a 1275gt and id love to know how to start doing basic servicing in time for the decent weather in the summer.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Get yourself a haynes manual. It goes through things like this with pics

I have one, but it's for minis in general. Would the gt be the exact same process?

Perfect, thanks for that. Going to replace the oil and filter and drain the radiator. Anything else you recommend I should/can do?

Grease the joints with a grease gun

Hey TMG, can you expand on what you mean by that? It'll be my first attempt at anything majorly (basic) mechanical. Thanks

There are two ball joints one on the top and one on the bottom of each hub on the front of a Mini and these should be greased regularly to prolong life. The rear radius arm has one grease nipple each and the same applies to these. You can get grease guns in most tool shops and most motor factors will have them too along with the grease cartridges.

This is also covered in the haynes with pics. The sit down and have a good read routine service chapter dude none of it is overly complicated and tbh you're better off doing this sort of stuff yourself.
