Hammerite is a fairly good hard wearing paint.

since it's new you might want to get it powder coated, a few lads here have had it done but it has to be clean first so no problem with a brand new one :D

Bert might be the man to ask about this

Hi, I'm just near the end of fitting mine, I got it sand blasted and then galvanized, seems OK any decent trailer/caravan on the road has it done with no signs of rust, quite cheap to get done too (€30 for galvanizing). Just make sure if you have any bits like exhaust hangers that may need welding on first as the zinc coating tends to make for a messy weld (I learnt that the hard way

I was told that galvanizing uses a lot of heat and can cause warping, anyone any info on it ?

It seems to be like the ole oil argument in that there's hugely mixed opinions on it, this here proves it http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/to ... 20subframe. I can safely say mine hasn't warped but that doesn't mean this whole "warping" thing can't happen as others have mentioned.

Yea mine was done by the lads where I work so they did a goog job for me and our paint plant was new at the time . Its at the seams where the rust starts . If I had payed to have had it done I would have said it was not worth it .
