making a trailer ! fingers crossed.

Post by Darren »

Evening All,

I'm going to have a go at turning an old Mini into a trailer, I know some people think that's a sin but this car is a wreck, it's too far gone to get back on the road, it might be possible but would cost too much, anyway it was sitting in this garage for the last few years .... nobody bothered with it.

Anyway, it has an electric folding roof, so I am just wondering if anyone has any interest or use for it ? 'cause once I start cutting at the weekend it's going in the skip. It might do for parts, I have no idea if it even works, it is a bit rough.

Cheers

Hi Davy_C,

There's not much to the front half, engine is already gone, sub frame is there, I'll try to get some photos up.

ah i take it you haven't started cutting yet? should be a good build, looks possibly like a mid 90's shell? sure if ye want rid mate give us a shout and i'll try get a mate to pick it up on his truck, i can base a build i'm planning on it instead of cutting up another shell (i only need a front end and floor for it)
have ye all the parts for the sunroof because i'd take it alright?
if ye want to give me a shout my number is 0857150569

Hi, I'm just outside Athlone. Haven't started cutting yet, that's the plan for tomorrow, I'm going to cut the floor just behind the front seats to make the trailer a desent size, don't know if that leaves you enough floor for your project. Ya your right, it's a '93 car.
Everything that's left will be for sale for a small price, I will start a new "For Sale" post with photos & prices etc .
Cheers

Bit confused here. The photobucket album shows an '89ish F-reg car (with just under 11,000 miles) but the pictures posted here of the British Open appear to be a different car.
Personally not my problem, but just curious about the two different cars....

By the way, good luck with the trailer project. Did one here a few years ago and quite a job to make up a decent looking front that blended in seamlessly with the rest of it.

Hi,
Of course it's two different cars, the 89ish is my 1988 Designer with 89,000 odd miles, the British open is the shell that i'm making the trailer out of, as far as I know the mileage on the British Open is correct..... it hasn't been driven in years.
Cheers

Ah, fair enough so. It's just that you have only 1 pic of the Open on the photobucket link (the mileage one) alongside a load of pics of the Designer. It just looks like the the odometer close-up is from the Designer. Not out to upset you so please don't take any offence.

Hi, No problem, I'm just figureing out how to upload and display my photos, if you have a look @ photobucket again check out my other album named trailer project, this album has the photos of the British Open, I have now moved the photo's of the odometer to this album. Did you have your trailer at this years camping weekend ?

Hi Davey, there is a log book for it, but it's gone with the engine, i'm only interested in the rear for the trailer. Is there enough of the front end there for your project ? If you want more photos let me know. I'm sure the log book can be viewed. BTW I didn't cut the car today as the weather here was crap all day.
