mini vtec subframe homemade??? :)
how much would you people pay for a home-made vtec, glanza turbo, micra 16v subframe
i was thinking of making a few different setups for people that are looking to convert to
micra engine, glanza turbo engine, sohc vtec engine, dohc vtec engine or any other requested
i have a mini there im going to do myself then test everything make sure its safe
and then duplicate if anyone is interested in one, this will take a few months but it will be done
its expensive to buy a full kit so i'd be doing frames with suspension and that, ready for engine.
so let me know what you think,,, cheers

Re: mini vtec subframe homemade??? :)
will ye require a donor subby or build from scratch??... get a build plan together dude and if ye have cad/3d max/solidworks etc get a proposed prototype designed to put out there, it will help
i'd be interested and know there would be lots of interest but ye gotta get a mockup for to see if its worth your while

Re: mini vtec subframe homemade??? :)
It Wud be built around the old subframe 1st. Tested. Tweaked. Then copy in tubular steel an box sections. Built to specs dat people want. Polished or painted to owners specs... prices Wud be prob a quarter of subframe prices... cheap and good build quality.
sound good. No point in me doin it if no one is interested. So come on peoples

Re: mini vtec subframe homemade??? :)
Do some market research first!
I found it hard enough to sell my micra subframe, and it had everything done. There s a big problem with nct, as all welding has to be certified and documented,
I was thinking the same as you for a few pound on the side, not worth the hassle

Re: mini vtec subframe homemade??? :)
I think a got about the 500 mark, but that included the 1300 micra engine, a 1l micra engine, loom, drive shaft made to suit and a few other micra bits,
I had to get a lad to weld the shafts because i did nt have the high carbon rods, i had to buy and ship the engine from the uk, when all was added up i d say there was about 150 euro profit, but that did nt include about 150 hours or the steel.
1 euro an hour --- are nt cars an awlful waste of money
