my 85 ritz

Post by ritz 998 »

hi everyone, i bought a mini ritz a while back but have only got it back on the road recently. its fairly original apart from
-79 special bumpers
-79 special centre console
-12" ultralites
- homemade speaker board
- Ring spotlamps
its an irish car and is down in the log book as a ritz but it is red and has houndstooth seats similar to the mayfair so the spec is completely different to a ritz? has anyone any ideas what this mini is? thanks

In 1984 Rover Ireland were selling "Irish" Mini 25 , it was a light blue mini city (centre speedo)with 25 steering wheel, 25 wheel hub caps and a 25 stripe. Proper mini 25 was silver ,25 interior 3 clock dash based on a Mayfair.
Maybe they did the same with the Ritz the following year.

No assembly in Ireland had stoped by then (anybody know what year it finished) , it was proberbly brought in as a City (the Mini 25 was a city) and had bits put on.The interior sounds like a Mayfair but I think all Mayfairs had green glass and the 3 clocks on front of the driver.

An old thread I know but my 2cents worth is that it wasn't a one off for Ireland. My 85 mini is also red and started out life as a ritz. Couldn't tell you what the interior was originally as someone swapped it out for a Jet Black interior prior to my acquisition of her. You have her looking tasty though. I have much work to do :)

Only seeing your response now. Ah you have her looking well alright, yes I have a single clock dash also. I'll post pics when I have a couple of bits fixed in the next few weeks.

I just saw a red irish Ritz also an 85 for sale: http://cars.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for ... ct/6898601
