How do I get the bloody doors off !
Hi All,
Trying to strip down my 1973 1L for painting, but stuck at getting the doors off, do I try and undo the hinge bolts that go into the door, or try to get at the hinge bolts into the car body ?
I've removed the stays so the doors open out almost 90 degrees, but still having a lot of trouble. Is the hinge pin removable ? any advice is appreciated

well if you go for the nuts holding the hinge to the body you probably will end up shearing off the bolt. its not as easy but if you go for the hinge to door you're less likely to shear it

Personally I always remove the hinges from the body. Clean nuts with wire brush then leave soak in WD40. Using a 6 sided 7/16 socket tapped home with a hammer turn it back and forth all the way out. If you do shear a stud its posable to repair when you have it out.

You could blow them off!

Is it a coincidence that mini and money start with the same letter? 'cause if you have the first you sure better have lots of the other

Woody's method is the best.
And if one or two (or three) of the hinge studs snap when you are removing the nuts, it's fairly easy to drill out the hinge and weld in a new bolt.

Thanks Woody, and everyone else, went at them from under the wheel arch, only 1 snapped off and not too bad a job as I was expecting.
