yes , we all have to use them.
have a pair out of my '78 clubman, which appear to be the original inertia
, when they were in the car they would not work, as in..would
not lock.just kept on reeling out.
at the last rathgar show a guy advised me that it was a spring which was
desplaced on the inside of the reel part..but still have not managed to open
them.
can anybody advise me..or a name of a company that i can send them too.

I know what your saying about the spring coming off... I have yet to actually be able to fix one of these as the spring once you do actually get in there is broken, (there is a wee hook bit on the end if it and this is usually just lying in the unit)...
It's of no use if it doesn't work so just have a go (it will fail NCT the way it is anyway)
