Hi,

This is my first post and wondering if anyone has had experiences of importing vtec mini's? Im looking at a Clubby estate vtec at the moment and would be interested in purchasing it in the UK.

Im just wondering how i would go about Insuring it, Taxing it and VRT'ing it? Is there anything i would have to look out for etc... What insurance company would insure it as an everyday use?

You would tax it as a 1.6 , 1.8 or 2.0 depending on the engine used Id imagine. Insurance I heard is a different animal, it came up awhile ago and I think in the end it was too much of a grey area to risk, I heard it can be insured as a kit car, or as a Honda. One of the lads had one here before I have no Idea how he insured it. As with everything in this country, once its different you better stand dancing and jumping through hoops for people who dont have a clue.

if you buy another car and have an open drive policy register the vtec in another persons name and put tax and nct on it you can drive it with out insurance.

I wouldn't like to rely on it when you have an accident

Only the registered driver can tax the car and they would have to have a valid insurance policy on it at the time it was being taxed.
