Seatbelts

Post by sparkymh »

Hello folks, My driver side seatbelt is not working properly at the moment and was thinking of replacing both front belts with 3 point harnesses. As far as the NCT goes, if I remove the rear belt connection to bolt in the new harness will they still pass it for safety?

thanks

mark

short answer is no. they wont. if you have rear seat belts in your mini as standard they have to be there for nct. and you also need standard front seat belts to pass. but yourself a working second hand seat belt for a few quid for the front, and once the NCT is done, fit your harneses

I think that having harnesses is an instant fail, you'll have to have the standard factory fitted type to pass the NCT.

We have had several customer cars pass with harnesses , they just look at mountings and if these are safe and fitted correctly they will pass . agree with Mini 850 though if your car has rear belts leave them alone !!
