Doors

Post by bc130 »

Just a quick question about mk3 doors. The door skin on the drivers side of my mini is completely rotten and the frame has started to rust. Also, the passenger side door skin is starting to rust around the edges of the skin where it is folded onto the frame. Would i be better off buying two good second hand doors or should i just get my own doors repaired. Cheers.

thats a repair you want, thats my repair and i used the old skin to build up the door bottom, its a handy and cheap repair so imo thats the way to go.... i've seen it been done before without removing windows only the handle.

if you prefere to buy new then i'm sure someone will repair yours and you will then have spares

A genuine door skin is £60 plus P&P and then you have the repair section to buy and unless you are handy with a welder and grinder you will have to pay for the work to be done so you have to weigh up the cost of getting a repair done or looking for a decent second hand door.I have picked up good doors for a lot less than it would cost me to repair doors I have so stick up a wanted ad and see what comes back.By the way I would always use genuine door skins because although the non-genuine ones cost about £20 it takea alot more fettling to get a good fit.

Thanks lads.Much appreciated. I think i might put up a wanted add as it would prob cost more in the long run to repair the doors i have.
