Can someone tell me if I need to have a doe test done on my mini van every year I did have one done last year....

What year is it ???
I enquired about the pickup I had and once it was over 25-30 years it was exempt.

Cool....its a 1982 so its 28yrs now....how did you check it out???

I presume you mean over 30 years as that would qualify for classic tax rather than commercial tax which would require a DOE cert. If you wait a few days after your tax is due to get your cert it will still be in date the following year ,two years for one cert.

That's ok if your insurance company don't require you to have it doe'd because if they do it could invalidate an insurance policy. If they don't request it be tested then just taxe the van private 170 if it 1 litre 330 if it 1275. Commercial tax is 270 odd. You don't need a doe cert to tax it private.

If taxed privite it will need a NCT.

Not if its a commercial vehicle.

I have a van (not a mini) that is insured commercially and is taxed privately (don't ask, like that when I bought it) and the NCT won't touch it, I get it DOE'ed but it needs to have a weight cert before they will DOE it.

Its a legal loop hole..... Even if its insured privately it doesn't have to be nct'd. Your insurance company may insist you doe it or get a garage report but it is not something the Garda will look for. This was the law last time i checked but you may want to verify it to be sure.
