Julie,
Be careful booking into the family camping area, it could be a long walk down that runway !

Naaah, Adrian - didn't you know they're putting the snorers down the end of the runway?!!!

thoughts starting to turn to Switz..... two things thus far: u need a tax sticker on the windscreen to drive the motorways.... 'bout 30 euro. also its *not* a eurozone country... its all swiss francs.. i guess i'm going plastic!
the exchange rate seems to be 1 CHF = 0.733913 EUR.. roughly 3/4

Lidl has warning triangles for €6ish at the moment. They are compulsary for travelling through France, as is a hi-vis jacket which is also available in Lidl.
It's 40CHF (Swiss francs) for the motorway tax which is about 30 Euros. Apparently you also have to pay it for your Rapido.

Correct Billy and I have been stopped in France to check I have them before too. Also law to carry a selection of fuses and bulbs in the car. I'm out in France now and have a Chrysler voyger out here with all the supplies under the seat ready. I think it's a great safty idea.

Who's handling the club booking for IMM2011?

Irish Ferries are offering 30% off if you book before Dec 31st. I was quoted around 550 return with caravan Rosslare-Cherbourg and a 4-bed berth. I had figured it would be 700-800.

What dates are you going, Billy?

June 6th and back in Cherbourg June 15th (I think). The Rapido obviously increased the cost but Neil got a price of 366 for himself and junior (and apparently there was a Mini included, and not on a trailer as that would cost extra!)

After chattin with you earlier Billy, I've been giving IMM2011 some consideration and am swaying towards going....
Bearing in mind that I'll be a poor student(!!), I've looked at the budget way of going and Irish Ferries comes in at €208 return for myself & the Mini.
Cost is based on departing on 6th June on the 15:30 ex rosslare and returning on 15th June on the 18:00 ex Cherbourg.
That would be with a reserved seat in the lounge as opposed to in a cabin, which if travelling by myself is fine.
With the Tesco Deal vouchers then I expect to get the ferry for free as I've already got €60 worth of ferry vouchers saved.
From a rough search of the journey, it is probably a full day driving so perhaps doing it over 2 days leisurely, stopping over night en route etc is the way to go...??
I'm not a racer so will be taking the sedate approach!!
Will ponder on it for a few weeks and see.........
Tony

Cherbourg to IMM is roughly 1000km, 10-12 hrs if you go motorway, 2 full days if you go RN.
Motorways will cost you €60 or so in tolls.

Quarterly Tesco vouchers arrived in the post this morning. Now have the equivalent of 350 Euros of ferry vouchers. All going well, the ferry to France will cost us nothing.

Suggested route: Rosslare-Cherbourg-Le Mans-St. Stephan avoiding Paris and tolls.
Cherbourg-St. Stephan 626 miles

Where would you propose to stop-over ?
Blois perhaps ? It's roughly 6 hours drive from the boat, should be there for Tea time

Should be able to get a cheap hotel for under €40 a room.
