Anyone fitted the Minispares 12" to 10" kit?
I just started fitting the 12" to 10" brake conversion kit I got from Minispares. Everything was going ok until I started to fit the new disc & drive flange. The new disc is deeper then the original disc so that when I tighten up the hub nut the disc is getting bound against the swivel hub.
It's as if I'm missing a spacer but there was none supplied with the kit.
I've the flange in the right way
The old and new flanges are similar sizes
As you can see the discs are different sizes
Once assembled you can see there is a slight difference in the distance from the front to the back
This is the standard 12" to 10" kit from Minispares (http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx? ... 536&title=). My old discs are 8.4 so I can't understand why it's binding when I tighten up the hub nut unless I'm missing a spacer but there isn't one in the kit.
Any suggestions appreciated !

A bit of experimentation later and some input from the folks over on theminiforum and it looks like it might be sorted. It appears that I need to removed the rear shield to allow the assembly to be fitted without binding.

I probably will once I've everything up and running with the 10" setup. I'll post it up when I'm ready to off load them.

did u get a big split washer for the hub?
Re: Anyone fitted the Minispares 12" to 10" kit?
@ minionly : I'm in Dublin
@ jocelynn : I was able to reuse the original one, the binding was down to the rear shield. I managed to find a picture of someone in the uk who fitted the kit and they didn't have the shield either. I've tightened up the hub nut and it's all good so far. The new calipers are in place and the new brake pads are slight different in that they have holes in them for the split pins to go through rather than using the spring plate. I'm fairly pleased with it.

Make sure you tighten everything to the correct torque.
All the info is available in the Haynes manual.
