OK guys

As the subject matter states :
We arrived in to Powerscourt today as part of the Mini run for Lunch and we taught it would be nice to take a photo outside the main house on our way in . But to be accosted by a member of staff stating that HE WAS WARNED ABOUT YOU LOT ! and get out as this is private land and you are here without any authorization and LEAVE NOW . ( hands waving shouting etc, )

A few things
First they lost our custom on the day 28 people for lunch
We won't be back
Warned about You lot ? ( maybe us mini owners are not classy enough )

I would have phoned the slazenger family in advance to advise that we would be coming over the wk end but due to the recent bereavement of Mr M Slanzenger I left it .

What I can't understand is the family have always been very helpful and inviting to any motor clubs including the yearly IVVCC events.

So now you know Minis are not welcome in Powerscourt

He he was a bit of a ....... alright. He didn't seem to have a problem with the Merc SL parked beside us. He could have asked us politely and there wouldn't have been a problem but there was no need for his attitude.

I would be surprised if anyone in Powerscourt reads this forum so they are unlikely to be aware of anyone's depth of feeling and will get a good night's sleep tonight, oblivious to your concerns.

Perhaps the way to go is for anyone feeling strong enough should put together a well-worded letter explaining the poor reception you got today. At least that way, the organ grinder and not the monkey at the gate will be aware of the situation and hopefully other car clubs will not get a similar reception in the future.

might have been warned by someone earlier ,was anyone driving erratically on the way to powerscourt or was there alot of engine revving going on, we were up there a few years ago on a run and there was no problem at all...anyway its not a reason to boycot the place, maybe go elsewhere, the Slazenger family have a lot on their plate at the moment, maybe you caught somebody having a bad day, im sure there was a bit of engine revving on departure...

maybe try some of the other scenic areas of wicklow next time all have nice places to eat and are close to the main roads network for people to get home....

Guys
Trust me I will be penning a note to the family in the next wk outlining the events .
The letter will be sent in a personal capacity.
Like I said the Slazenger family have always been very inviting and helpful.
NOBODY WAS REVING OR SPEEDING IN THE AVE .
Like I said in my first post because of the family Bereavement I didn't contact them in advance

I agree with Brian in that we got a poor reception but there was no messing whatsoever in coming into the grounds and leaving, all we were getting was waves and smiles from the other visitors.Perhaps they have had trouble with other groups and this has a knock on effect of tarring all motoring groups with the same brush. All this means is that we will not be going back again.

thats terrible... . we should write to them and see what it was we have done.. its clearly some mis-communication. im sure if we sought clarification we might be able to patch up this unfortunate incident. im sure the gate-keeper (or whoever) has completetly over-reacted...

Are there any other Mini clubs that could have been there recently and caused trouble and they thought they had come back for more??

Why would you want to clarify something with somebody who treats you like .*******

Id make sure his boss finds out what sort of a ****** he has greeting visitors. I really doubt the gate keeper has anything to do with the slazengers. Just some clown on a power trip. Probably a Bouncer at night

all true..... however the *most* important thing here is to make sure the club retains it's good name.
i have little doubt that the management of Powerscourt would not condone the way the man acted, but they may have issued instructions to keep us out.

it would be nice to have this individual get a good lash from his manager. far better that IMOC can access all areas with its good name intact.

Maybe both? 8)

There's no valid reason stopping any individual driving up to Powerscourt if they so wish.......
