1979 Clubman restoration- Almost there.

Hi,

In February 2008, I started out on the restoration of a 1979 Mini Clubman. I kept a restoration thread going on Mini Resource showing the trials and tribulations of the work.

Follow this link to view the full thread......http://www.miniresource.com/forums/inde ... opic=28731

Anyway, the project turned into a major ground up restoration with 90% the car brought back to bare metal, then Zinc primed, and eventually professionally resprayed/baked in a Fiat/Alfa shade called Giallo Ginestra.

I'm happy to say that the car is now finished and on the road (classic tax and insured). Just wanted to say thanks to Paul D for all the help and to the folks on MiniResource and IMOC for the invaluable advice during the rebuild.

Here are a few highlights of the rebuild in progress and a few pics of what he(christened Bob) looks like today.

Once again, thanks to everyone who helped out along the way.

Roll on a new project for 2010

Unfit.

Thanks for that lads. Its great to get the acknowledgement from guys who know these cars as well as you do. I have to admit that the last few bits to be sorted out took the longest and there is still a few bits of minor tidying to be done inside the car.
For example, I put a crank shaft oil seal in it there 2 weeks ago to cure a small oil leak and spent a few late nights putting it all back together and it felt that some of the enjoyment factor was missing. But glad to say, I'm now happy I went to the bother of doing that seal. Its like a lot of the other unseen work that goes into a rebuild. I'm sure you know what its like.
By the way, TMG, I have not forgotten that pivot bolt you lent me that time. I will settle up with you when we meet up at a run.

Cheers for those seats Skelly. Really comfortable. Will look at that dash liner tomorrow and maybe sort out a few minor internal details that I have been ignoring.
