Here it is........
1980 Mini 850 Super
Fitted with a standard 998.
10 Inch Minolite (copies)
Roof Painted Black.
Apart from that fairly standard and origanal.
Will Let the pics tell the story.
Will take more pics tomorrow when i do a few jobs on her.
Plans so far are 1st thing loose the cooper stickers off the rear quarters as it is not a cooper, neither were coopers available in 1980 and nor does it look anything like a cooper.
Fix the brakes as they cause more of affect on the direction of the car than the speed.
Change of the interior along with fitting of a lap belt in the back for use of a baby seat.
Fit a cd player.
And a good service.

So today i washed and waxed, Tyre shined and gave the windows a bit of a polish and took off the 4 wheels and drums. All the shoes are like new. Some of the adjusters where seized as was one of the handbrake quadrants. So got everything working again but need to replace a couple of the cyclinders as there a bit of fluid seaping from them. Just wanted to get a nice spin out of it today.
Removed the cooper stickers and got the indicators working. (faulty flasher unit)

Looks well ESTHER!

You spent your Sunday well Gareth, was there a purpose of the hole in the foamy stuff on the dash? Looks so much better without the Cooper stickers to.

At some point in the past it had a radio fitted and had a single speaker in the front and a single one in the back. When it first came into the country the speaker was there but while my mate had it he tok the speaker out and was going to recover the dash to get rid of the hole but never did. So we will.......

As it happens it was one of the about 45 minis me and dad brought over in 2005/2006 and sold it to a guy i know in Arklow. He drove it home parked it in his workshop and has taken it out about 3 or 4 times since. Last week he came down and was looking to buy a Mitsubishi L200 jeep i had in stock and he asked would i take the mini back as a trade in. I took a look at the car and fancied it for myself so did the deal. Then when i got it home the wife fancied it for herself so i think you know the rest..................
