Classic Car Insurance

Post by unfit »

Hi all,

can anyone tell me which insurance companies offer classic car insurance policies.
Also would you have any idea how much a 1979 Clubman would cost on such a scheme ?

thanks,

Brendan

No, we get the same editions as you do i.e. there isn't a specific Irish version.

I just got my Mini and Beetle insured with First Ireland, 4,000 mile limit on each, both can be used at the same time and any 28 or over with their own policy can be named for free. All for 368 euro.

I.ve insured my mini with Averia hiberian for 120 euro. Car has to be over 23 years old. No milage limit as long as you have another car insured for everyday use. Cheap as chips if you only using the car every weekend and a few runs every other week.

Thanks for that folks.
Will start the ball rolling with Avernia and then try First Ireland and a few of the others.
I just need the most basic cover and dont really see restricted mileage as an issue.
thanks again for the advice,

You could also give Campbell Autoline a buzz on 01-490 1000.
They are brokers based in Coleraine but will qoute for all Ireland & shop around for the best quote available.

Currently, I have our 3 classic cars, my Father as a named driver and a 5000 mileage allowance for €268.80 fully comprehensive.
Last year they sourced it with Santam and this year it is with Allianz.

Tony

just rang them for a quote there, declared everything to them, and they quoted €189 fully comp with 3000 mile limitation, and the beauty is they will give classic on 15 year old cars....

I am with AXA and have save a good few euros with their privilege card discount in Halfords. If they are close to the other quotes, they might be worth it overall. (if there is a Halfords near you).

Called into local Aviva branch today.
€150 for 3rd Party or €164 for full Comp including "breakdown" and "windscreen".
Went for the Comp Policy.

Will stick 12 months road-tax on it from next Monday. If the classic car tax is still €48 then that works out at Tax and insurance for not much over €200 for the year. Thats good value I reckon.
