Emission fail

Post by Tinkerbell »

Hi to all,

as mentioned in the "Seen a Mini" thread my Belle Blue failed the NCT because of the exhaust emissions.

The readings are

Temperature: 83 °C
Low Idle (900 rpm): CO 2.20 vol% - HC 0 ppm
Lambda: 1.049
High Idle (2810 rpm): CO 1.77 vol% - HC 163 ppm

A colleague of mine told me to use Dipetane to get around the prob. But as he has a Peugot (and he is French  ) I do not really trust him. Just joking.
The tester said there could be something wrong with the catalysator.

Please help,

Tinkerbell

PS: I read the NCT Emissions thread, but I am not a technical person.

When was the last time you changed the plugs/oil/oil filter/air filter?

It probably needs a service. Putting stuff in the petrol isnt the way to go. 95% of the time High emissions means that there is something wrong with the engine. The otehr 5% its ment to have high emissions.

Hi guys and gals,

I bought her in June this year from a young lad on the Northside.
He told me he just changed the plugs/oil/oil filter/air filter before he had put the ad on the web and hasn't it driven since (about half a year beforehand).

I had a look on the plugs and the airfilter and they seem pretty new to me.

@ Bert: Thank you for the offer I will call you.
