good ol' BOB

this baby right here was my first mini which i got about 4-5 years ago.. it looked quite good at the time as it had just had a fresh paint job prior to me buying it...
I drove it for about a year or so and then switched to a fiesta which i subsequently crashed into a wall, at that time i was going to sell it but in the end i kept it :) it was driven for another year or 2 and then i got my BRG mini a year ago which then turned into my daily drive, bob was left at the back of the house most of the time with a cosy cover on it

anywho! my other project 'Nancy' hasnt been touched in months basicly cuz im fixing other ppls minis all the time. :|
so plan is too fix Bob and get him through the nct (which will prolly be back dated to a year and a half ago or so) sell my BRG mini and drive Bob for time being and then finally bring homne Nancy to be finished :D

so, list of what i know needs to be done to BOB:

new inner and outer sills both sides
two new door skins put on
1 a panel
left rear window needs touch up (or so i thought)
and bottom of left quarter panel touch up

heres some pics

oh, forgot to say im broke as fook so i have made up some of the panels myself as i do have a big sheet of steel :)
and just in case (i will come accross it again) i made up a template of the rear arch repair bit for future reference
thankfully the rust at the rear quarter didnt get to the subframe mount <--- would not have liked doing that again
got the rear arch bit tacked in tonight but was too dark for pics.

wats left to do:

left side inner and outer sill
left door skin
finish of quarter repair
filling
found more rust at each end of the scuttle panel but dont have the money for it really so mite just fill that for now

then in time: (il drive it round whatever way its finished, RAT look!! )
fella down the road from me charges €250 for spray job if the car is stripped so that shall deffo be on the cards then.
my mate (pimp) shanes british open classic is in there at the minute so il know if he's any good when i get seeing that car again

near match time, C'MON IRELAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that 10 days ago already??
did you head dublin last weekend for parts?? did ya happen pick up pump for me???
i thought id get the sills and doors skins done in a week tbh...
stupid prep work for all the panels takes up most of the time where i just happen to walk away from them and sort of come back a few hours later

cheers.. feels quite good too when i do finally make up a decent fitting panel...
that replacement at the side window took like an hour an half after i finally got the angles bent right.. :|

anyone needs a copy of the rear arch one let me know... (its a near perfect fit, fits both sides) but doesnt have the lip on it is all...

oh the guy spraying my mates car is letting me come in and he's gonna give me few pointers on filling, even after simon gave me super tips still just cant get the hang of it ....

hope i pass welding exam next thursday, and if i do i might just be on the lookout for a TIG welder

Is it 4-5 years already I seen this at the side of the road! The guy painting it will be happy to see it coming back in for paint :P No wonder the rear window had a leak then.

Keep up the good work! Get her fixed and nancy on the road asap

got all the patching done on the rear quarter, and also got inner and outer sill changed..
as per usual i didnt have the patience to wait for the metal to cool sufficient enough wen welding and as a result, i have some slight warping, which results in alot of patience to do my favorite job of all: Filling
this is the start of it.. but im determined to get it looking perfect :D

cant get the door off as one bolt is just fubard, so will have to roll it off the stands take of the wheel and then il be able to grind the nut off... effort.. :?
