basicly its a good test for your mini.
ya meet up in either malin or mizen (mizen this year, malin the year before) on the friday, try get down their in a convoy (good craic) ya then get briefed in some fancy hotel where ya could be staying or ya just book a b&b, out the door around half 5 in the morning and meet up at the very tip or bottom of the country along with all the other minis and variants, try and wake which happens fairly quickly as it will be quite windy once ya step out of the car, wait around till everyone arrives and then ya get given a route book which will bring you half way, try and stick with the convoy of minis you came with or join other groups of minis, which ever you think is going at the pace you want (its not a race but sometimes the 850's go a bit slow :P ) then you drive through some very scenic and twisty roads while following the routebook or just the mini in front, who can also get lost or mess up quite easy as we have all learned
then at the stops which are every hour or two or so ya catch up with othewr mini owners and have a bit of laugh etc etc.
then half way when the route book is finished ya stop at a restaurant or petrol stop for some grub and wait there untill ya get the next route book... then same story again, twisty scenic roads, ya switch drivers if you wish (you wont want to trust me 8) ) then you get to the finish where all the minis gather up and ya get that feel good feeling and ya give your mini a wee pat and say well done
then stay over in a b&b or in hotel where most of the mini drivers stay and on the beer ya go !!!

ps. i left out that you will see quite a bit of cheeky mini driving along the couple of days but nothing too bad that anyone gets penalty points for or that <------ which im very surprised about

all in all its a great way to meet other mini enthusiasts and put names to faces...
im sure others will add more here, but if you own a mini you should deffo do the next mtm, you'l enjoy it :)

no wasnt a dig at you just in general... surprised you didnt get any on the trip tho

it costs about 50 entry fee i think, which covers route maps, aa road map some stickers a plaque keyring and a finishers award, then you still have to pay for your b&bs or hotels for both nites, a good bit on petrol, beer money (if your a drinker that its.. ) and food...
last two have been on at the end of may from what i remember... friday arrive for briefing at leaving destination, then up early saturday morning and away you go driving for a good solid 10 + hours incl. breaks....

I remember doin my first mtm about 9 or 10 years ago as a passenger in my uncles 89 G green mini cooper replica had tinted windows and a rediculous exhaust  was gas craic at the end of it I got a mini rose model mini in a small clear case ? anyone remember those. I never drove the mtm but would absolutely love to that green mini eventually became my first car when i was 17 but it was only a loan until I got my own car which had to be diesel  . But hopefully ill be purchasing myself a little cheap mini fairly soon and will make it to the 2010 mtm 8)

Ideally, the first thing to do if you if want to do the 2010 MTM is to join the IMOC (that us!!)
That way you will be kept up to date with whats happening.

The Irish Mini Owners Club (IMOC) membership runs from January to December each year.
Only paid-up members can vote at an AGM

Please note that membership is possible any time during the year.

The 2009 Club membership is 20 euro.
Please make cheques and postal orders payable to "The Irish Mini Owners Club" and post with a complete "Application Form".
The postal address is to the Irish Mini Owners Club, 6 College Park Avenue, Ballinteer, Dublin 16, Ireland.

If you have any questions, please email secretary@irishminis.ie.

All you will know before the event is that there will be a Mizen and a Malin in the route, all other details are a closely guarded secret known only to the CHOOSEN ones, brilliant event and well worth doing.I have met some great people down through the years.

If you pay €20 at this stage of the year it will cover your Club Membership until the 31st December 2010.

Club Members get a reduced entry fee for MTM which works out as a saving of roughly €10.00.

Petrol?????? If you ask Mick Glennon how much money you need for petrol to do the MTM it yould put anyone off doing it....... I think he spent about the same on fuel in one day than Micheal O'leary spends in a year......

And the MTM is one of the best events of the year.... It is a must do..... I'll be there next year again for sure........

And joebe1 ...... your right its not a race which is lucky cause you drove so slow you woulda been last..... :?

So in a nut shell find out how much Daddy Glennon spent on petrol on MtM 09 and minus 98% and you'll get your cost of petrol for the event

And Gareth,

Stop incurraging Joe!

As for the IMM2010, many people go from the club every year so the dates will not be clashing. :D
