powder coat wheels

ive a set of steel wheels here, needing refurbishing... ideally shot-blast & paint. anyone have an opinion on whether to have them powder coated or not? my gut reaction is that they will chip and corrosion would run un-seen under the powder coat finish... and therefore primer and spray paint would be better... ????

yea thats the same guy(s) i met i think... i voiced my concerns re. corrosion and he was quite adamant that with the primer they use that wasnt going to happen; id be interested in what expereinces people have with powder coating on wheels. i know it works well on parts and subframes; the wheels have a diffrent environment.
he did mention €80 for 4 wheels blasted, primed and finished in white, which is good i think?
are you getting yours re-chromed?

There is a crowd in Ballyfermot called CPC Coatings 01 6206953 and they can blast and powder coat and if they are steel wheels they will metalize the wheels first then powder coat them any colour you want but as with any powder coating they can only do 1 colour.

Havn't got wheels done but they have done a lot of gates and railings for me and their work is 1st class.

I got the same price for the 13inch alloys €250 and €250 for a set of 10inch steels wheels.

As the steel wheel will be behind hub caps, I guest I'mm not getting them done.

I see that Tallagh Powder coating do a lot of magazine advetising, i never had dealings with them personally, but heard only good things about them.

There is a guy based down in Limerick also, who i got a set of BBS's done with - did a cracking job (excuse the pun :) )

If he isn't too far away, check him out at http://www.wheeldoctor.ie
