Welcome to the Irish Mini Owners Club forum. Celebrating 30 years of the Irish Mini Owners Club, 60 years of the Mini, 50 years of the Clubman and 20 years of our flagship event MTM
This was my first car, a 1275cc fuel injected Mini Sidewalk. It had a Tartan interior and it was Kingfisher blue. The origanal plan was to repair Austin and get it ready for September (My 17th) as it not got must rush surprizingly coming from a car that was English! Here is how it looked when it was first bought -
I just always wanted a Mini ever since I started visiting Mondello and seeing them all down there. I wanted one so bad I did'nt investigate the amount of damage that was caused by that stupit pole that poor Austin was driven into on his way home from collecting his brand new M.O.T disc! The pole had twisted the subframe which pushed up against the body of the car and came through the foot well As I tryed to get rid of the car I ended up breaking it for parts and this is it when most of the parts gone
Then came the MTM and I needed spare wheels so it was jacked up from the front, the two front wheels taken of and dropped on its brake discs From there BERT took over and came and trailered it home were it has been cut in half to make a trailer. BERT will be dropping the car home sometime over the weekend so I shall take some more pictures and keep you all updated. And thank you Stephen (D_3m0_n) for offering to do the welding.
no probs wen we startin? i dont have to much fresh steel left so ya mite have to order some...
do you still have the indicator stalk thingy of that car? my sis is looking for one..
Sorry about the crappy plan but the main one is in my rusty head!
So heres how we are looking
As you can see its not being cut half way up like the fibreglass trailer you can buy. The black symbolizes the top half of the trailer which can be accessible from the rear window. Just were the black starts will be a welded in shelf which will be in-line with the rear parsel shelf. The rear window will be fitted with brackets and a lock from a 93 model Honda Civic which the rear window opens like an American SUV. The bottom half will be accessible from the standerd boot lid and then clearly for it to be a trailer it will have a tow bar. As a funky little twist the hand brake will remain in the car and will be welded on to the bar that the tow bar will be on. So it will sit roughly in the same place as if it was a full Mini.
Please leave suggestions and what you think of the idea.....its nice to have feedback
