Did somebody post something recently about a classic car insurance scheme that will cover 15 year old cars?
Was it an Irish Vintage Scene scheme?
Anybody got any details?

Is it a set price for the insurance or do the quotes vary? I am over 25 :( with another policy in my own name etc so i should qualify....

Is anyone insured with them or can you find cheaper on the web?

I discovered from one of the companies that do classic insurance that if you are a member of the porsche club they will sell you a clasic policy, presumably for your porsche, for a 15 year old car or older. Most classic policies dont kick in till 20 or 25 years.
As with most other classic policies, the age of the driver was 25 or more.
As i dont need to insure a porsche i didnt make note of the company.

I am however close to completeing a deal whereby i can add further classic cars for an additional €65 per car, fully comp.
More details when the deal is done, hopefuly by mid-week.

Yeh, my brother insured his 944 with Carol Nash when it was 16 or 17 years old. They weren't willing to do it at first but once he mentioned he was in the club it was no problem.
Should hopefully work for a Mini 2, its more of a classic than a 944.

Hey,

Been trying the number on the iveta website but never get an answer or a reply, internet searches bring back quotes of €400 plus!! It will be used as a second car so miles will be low i have a full clean license and im over 30, anyone know of anywhere I can get a reasonable quote?

Thanks

I got a quote the other day of First Ireland for 2 cars on the same policy (the mini and a beetle) for 247 Euro. Extra drivers are free once they have a full licence and their own policy and are over 28. The cars are limited to 2000 miles a year each but can both be driven at the same time. You just have to be a payed up member of a recognised club. Its the best quote i came accross.

hey,

Thanks for the info, unfortunately the car is 16 yrs old and doesnt qualify for the classic insurance, so best he could find was 790 third party or 880 fully comp.

Anyone any ideas?? Has anyone got insured with the Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor assoc??

Thanks,

Mick

You really are caught between two stools with this one, too old for mainstream insurance and too young for classic.

Give Classic & Collectable Insurance in Coleraine a buzz on 028-703 44321.

Although based in Northern Ireland they quote and cover for the entire 32 counties.

I have my 3 cars on cover, fully comp with a named driver for €263 per year.
A 5000 mileage limit applies.

First Ireland will consider cars over 15 years old. I say you would be ok with a Mini.
