thanks dudes. have to say hats off to Paul for all the work, the level of work/engineering is simply mind blowing.
Re: Maxis 1275gt (not dialup friendly)
Any ballpark figure on the cost of one of these jobs? Are you running the standard gear set?
Looks like a very tempting project to take on, Im itching to do something with mine, but Im torn between 7port or 16V
I must say , Merlin has certainly worked his magic on this, looks like a super job as youd expect.

Re: Maxis 1275gt (not dialup friendly)
lol. good man tommy
well, ive stopped shaking so might just write a little report of my first impressions of the conversion.
In one word NUTS!
In a couple more words... I wasnt sure what to expect when I arrived over in Pauls on friday.
Its been two long years since ive sat in the clubman and turned the key so i was in a bit of a daze.
This didnt help as Paul was explaining all the things I needed to remember before setting off towards home.
(i remember something about oil and something about one of the guages being a bit off)
So after a lot of chat I headed off towards home, Paul said something about taking it easy, and
as I normally drive like a pregnant giraffe, this want going to be a problem. Drove out of Newcastle
and onto the Naas road, typically the traffic was moving at pace so I had to give it some boot to
merge properly... gave it some right foot... HOLY CRAP!!!! the car just took off, decided to ease off
and then realised I was in 3rd... it felt like i was in first gear. So kept it handy until the roundybout
at the redcow (speedcamera capital of dublin) and then realised my speedo was on the blink,
but the revcounter seemed to be working so i decided on speed number 3. As soon as I was passed the
'red zone' i gave it another little squirt and decided that I am probably going to lose my license before christmas!!
but all joking aside, the car is far from finished, its rattly like hell (jill calls it the cement mixer), the fuel economy
is pants, throttle is awful jerkey, but the performance is pretty mindblowing considering the cost. i just hope paul can sort out the niggles
and make it a bit more tame.
to be continued...
