Irish Mini Owners Club

The first of this year's big shows takes place in Durrow, Co. Laois on Sunday April 19th. As you may have seen in the events section of Irish Vintage Scene, the Irish Mini Owners Club will be supporting this show as we have done several times before.

I spoke with Austin Ryan, the chief organiser of Durrow last night and getting a club area works differently than at other shows. Basically to ensure we have a club area at Durrow, we must all enter the show grounds together. The organisers will not be able to guarantee that latecomers will be able to join the main group.

As we will need to agree a meeting point near the show e.g. Durrow village, we need to know who is coming.

Durrow is ideally positioned between Dublin and Cork so I would expect we should have a decent attendance from both the Eastern and Southern regions.

The Durrow organisers have asked us to point out that no BMW MINIs will be accepted for display as it's a classic car show though they will allow us bring all Minis 1959-2000. Austin Ryan told me he has had a few phonecalls from BMW MINI owners and he has explained the situation to them.

The organisers want us there before noon but we must all go in together if we want to park our cars together.

So here's the plan: Meet in the square in Durrow village at 11.30am and proceed once everyone on the list has arrived. If you're late and don't ring me at 087-4195640 to say you're running late, we will head in without you.
