Thought id better post up some pics of my mini as i dont think i ever have on thsi site!

anyhoo here she is, had her 2 years so far and am saving at the moment for a big engine!!!

Where did you take those pictures? I was down that back laneway behind Laservison today and it looks like you haven't move the Mini since the last time I was there

The Green "TS" Mini doesn't like it has moved either.

i took the pictures last Saturday after a run with a few lads from miniresource in bray!

i don't use the car on weekdays as i walk to work!

did you spot my lovely oil leak!

It wouldn't be a Mini without an oil leak.

ive had a quite a bad leak since i put some oil in last week, i think i may have actually too much oil in her tbh

would that cause a leak?

What oil did you use ?

Interesting to see the high reg number. I don't expect we will be seeing such a huge record of new cars being registered in one year in the near future.

Funnily enough, regarding oil leaks.... Having a Princess and a Dolomite already I'm used to the odd seep of oil from time to time BUT since the Mini arrived it's not shed so much as a drop of oil

If you did put too much oil in, it would potentially cause a seal to blow.
Perhaps drain some out, ensure engine is cooled down and dip the level. When refilling, pour small amounts in at a time, allow to settle and then dip again.
Might be no harm to drain it all out and replace the oil filter also.
Process of elimination etc

PS-don't hang about attending to that surface rust on your front/rear valances and door bottoms. Prevention is always better than cure!

i think ts the seal at the gear selector thats is gone as it had leaked before but hasnt leaked in a while until recently

as for the doors, theyll be attended to eventually, im gonna try get either new skins or maybe entire new doors eventually i reckon, the drovers door is quite badly rusted on the bottom and beyond salvaging im reckoning

dont live there but a friend does, i visit quite regularly!

have the car down with albert in delgany at the moment

getting the gear selector leak fixes, poly bushes into the engine, steering column drop bracket fitted, fog light fixed and a new gasket for the rocker cover

the engine mounting bolt has snapped into the engine so the bolt eill need to be replaced and the hole rebored i think, seems like a big job but glad im getting it sorted, heard good thing about his work so happy enough!

The easiest way to get the sheared bolt out of the side of the block is to drill a hole in the bolt and hammer a suitably sized torx bit into the hole, then unscrew with a ratchet. It's worked for me on a few occasions.

was talking to albert this morning and he said he'll be able to get it sorted so ive left it in his capable hands!

once this is all done there should be nothing wrong with the car whatsoever! i think for the first time in years!

it should be worth it!

Got my new removable steering wheel installed!

Looks nice and neat, is it much closer to you than the standard ?

close but not too close!

at least now i can see all the dials when driving!

one thing tho, my indicators aren't self cancelling, is that cos i may have not put the plastic part that cancels them in right again? its only s minor inconvenience but the wheel isnt on exactly straight so ill have to re-allign it again anyway so may try and sort out the indicators while im at it

wheel may look closer as i got a drop bracket installed aswell, much better driving position!

i really need to stop spending money on it, but ive got so much more planned!

Same thing happened to me with my steering wheel. The boss doesn’t have a piece that sticks out and cancels the indicators. But as you say its minor inconvenience and after a short while it will become second nature for ya to turn it off

Oh ya a mini is never a non project

Would it be possible to drill a suitable hole and fit a roll pin to operate the indicators ?

Come to think of it ya you could, on my boss it's a solid plate at the back but I wouldn't bother I’m used to it at this stage unless it was some kind of stupid NCT failure
