There will be a load of us travelling over as the UK is a simple run leaving by Ferry on the Friday morning and coming back on the Monday. Collect Tesco vouchers and you won't have to pay much for the ferry.

Here's a photo of all of the IMOC crew who travelled to Holland this year for IMM2008:
Image

We brought 7 Minis there including one member who drove from Germany (Dave Woodbridge).

If your thinking of going to the IMM I would have to say to you DO IT.Last year was my first IMM and it was without a doubt the best craic I've had with the club ever.It is a great way to get to know people in the club and from all over europe. The best way in my opinion to experience an IMM is to stay on site as you get a real feel for the event and it is worth it for the Paul Maloney fry up in the morning. :P
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

Sign up for a Tesco loyalty card and shop as often as you can. You get 1 point for every Euro spent and they occasionally do special offers on certain items. We just did a 200 Euro shop this morning but with the special offers we got over 600 points which works out at 6 Euros worth of Tesco vouchers which is then converted into 24 Euros of ferry vouchers.

You need to book the ferry 1 month in advance so you have 7 months to collect as many Tesco points as possible. It also applies if you buy their petrol.

It's far cheaper than any mickey mouse 10% discount.

Worzel,

International Mini Meetings (IMMs) have been going for over 20 years around Europe. Every 5 years it's held in the UK to coincide with every 5th birthday of the Mini i.e 20,25,,,,,45,,,,50.

2009 will be all about Mini 50 but IMMs happen every year and there's a community that we've gotten to know from all over Europe. Birmingham is an easy one to get too. In 2010 it's in Germany.

An IMM is more of a European party than a polish-your-car-and-hope-a-bird-doesn't-doodoo-on-it kinda show.

Sign up, you won't regret it.

As in the previous 19 years, the Club will be attending the IMM.

We usually make one single booking as a Club as this is easier for keeping everyone together on the camp grounds. It's also less of a headache for Mike and Glenys and the crew who have to organise the event.

It also works out cheaper to book as a Club, there is a transaction/handling charge but it works out significantly less to do the one booking.

Details will go out to all members in the next few weeks, along with Membership Renewal Form and the AGM notification.

We should have a good few members heading to Birmingham next August, more than the 28 we had in Holland this year.

Pete,

Have you a towbar on the back of the camper? We had 7 club Minis in Holland this year and those that flew in for the weekend got slagged. Otherwise bring a tent. I brought my wife and 2 kids and we had 2 tents. The organisers usually allocate camping area for each club so we had our own IMOC mini-village.

I don't think they allow non-Minis into the camping area though TMG or BlackSe7en might like to come in here.

As I think of it, do any of ye in Holland remember the grief DaveB had all weekend from the security staff with his Berlingo van parked in our camping area? Pete, don't bring the camper!

If you haven't seen these already, check these photos of this year's event:

28 degrees and about 1300 Minis (and inter club bowling using beer cans and a frisbee!)

There won't be a limit on entry numbers, it is a big party and the more the merrier, the costs for next year are , Adult £55, 6 to 12 year olds £25 and under 6 are free. The cost covers the entry to the IMM, camping, a T-Shirt, goodie bag, 2 meals and plenty of entertainment with Inter Club competitions, Show and Shine, Autojumble and trade stands and nightly music and disco from Friday to Sunday. On top of all this, you will get free entry to the Mini 50 celebrations.

Any Mini or Mini derivative is welcome at the event, non-Minis are not allowed on site and will have to park outside in a separate area, Motor homes may be allowed on-site, but as in the past few years, I would expect that they will in their own area, this is purely down to safety reasons, where plans and layout can be changed up to the last minute by the local Fire Officer.
In the last 10 years, the Fire Officers have had a big impact on IMM's, what they say , goes.

Pete,

I know where you're coming from. Personally bringing a non-Mini to an IMM is like bringing a bag of hurleys to a golf course.
Roll on IMM2010 in Bavaria. The Germans aren't even allowing Bini's attend and that's official. See http://www.imm2010.de

The Marcos 50th Anniversary Weekend is the following weekend, it's being held at the Prescot Hillclimb venue.

Pete if you did really want to bring a camper, you might consider this conversion,

Having brought a Golf GTI to the IMM in Bandon, there can be some very "intolerant" people there. There is one "visitor" who was lucky not to have a meeting between his grille/headlights and a GTI rear bumper.
Anyway, I do hope to "bump" into him this year!!!

On the Thursday night of IMM'97 in Bandon, I arrived in my lovely Citroen ZX 2.0 16V thinking it was the madra's goolies. It was my 1st IMM and I hadn't a clue. No one paid it the slightest notice. I brought my '67 Austin auto for the rest of the weekend.

I remember there was an Aston Martin there that weekend as well. What was that doing there?

Maybe the Aston Martin was hoping for an Italian job remake in the hills of Cork?

The weather was incredible in Bandon that year. Brush Shields was the entertainment. I'm afraid he just doesn't do it for me. Did I ever tell you the story of the stag party I was at in Galway, a blow-up sheep, and Brush Shields announcing that he wouldn't continue playing cos he was a "serious musician"? I'll tell yawl in Birmingham.
