Re: Project Nancy
You could try and fit a mono-wiper, like the race Minis.

Re: Project Nancy
ah iv got plenty of time to do stuff bein jobless, so am just keepin my options open
ok, got a bit more done since last post.. i got some undersills which were meant for my other mini but decided to chop up all the bits that i have welded in and place the undersills on instead
got doing the rear arch also as the lip was too rusty for my liking so got a replacement panel for that heres a pic from my crappy phone, not very clear
got it all welded up nicely 1/3 from the inside (where i could reach) than the rest from the outside
theres no inner arch in there yet and i think the panel has slightly warped inwards from the bottom... will the inner arch resolve the slight warp??? <--- please say it will

Re: Project Nancy
It may or may not, when welding onto large panels like a quarter panel you should weld in short bursts and vary the weld from place to place to keep heat build up to a minimum to avoid warping.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

Re: Project Nancy
i knew that and thought i left enough space and time when i was welding it....
ya cant really see it from the pics but the bottom of the panel has slightly pulled inwards (not alot), it can be arched/pulled outwards from the bottom but it just doesnt stay like that so i hope the inner arch fitting will slightly push it outwards
lesson learned after i did that anyway, i started the other side and cut the panel alot smaller and like you said im welding in couple of inch sections from one side to middle to far side and back etc etc....

Re: Project Nancy
just little update
sprayed the rear seat and parcel shelf with zinc primer using a spraying gun
handy job the spray gun but what a pain in the behind to get the gun clean afterwards
am sort of running out of things to do slowly but surely due to the lack of panels that are needed so am gonna make up a punch tonight and see if i can start the oh so dreaded de-seaming

Re: Project Nancy
got an 8 by 4 foot 1mm mild steel sheet today so i dont have to worry about steel anymore... unless the whole floor starts to rust
anywho started the de-seaming earlier on (crappy pic)
i used cut outs of about a cm n half and placed them in at the back of the seams (reverse of normal seams) and welded them in section by section, grinded it down after the above picture and went over the weld again... feels solid. leak proof - i hope so after i fill it all out.. am gonna use lead to fill it instead of filler... should be another fun experience

Re: Project Nancy
the welding part of the de-seaming is done, i just need to clean the welds abit and then im going to start lead filling them as opposed to the usual filler...

Re: Project Nancy
cheers billy...
cudnt make it to agm, was meant to head up donegal to collect my brothers new car (bmw 312i(s) touring) but ended up being to lazy and stayin in bed
so instead went back out to the car and did some work on it, was going grand untill i ran out of cutting discs so that was that for today
heres some proper pics finally
doorstep repair
A-post rust...what is this repair panel i need called?????????????????????????
a-post section removed
botched up
cut out and that is where my cutting discs ran out
heres some better pics of the de-seaming
<---think that was the second run over with the welder to cover up some holes and weld together a bit better
the seams aint lookin the prettiest right now but hopefully all will turn out ok when i get them filled with lead.
any comments/advice on the seam welds appreciated before i fill em up....
EDIT: sickened, am after spotting a cutting disc with a bit left on the rear parcel shelf in one the pics
