Hi Steven,

There are a load of guys on here who will be able to help you with your restoration, guys who are mad into Irish Built cars.

What do you want from your Mini, are you going for a Sunday driver, a daily runabout or a Concourse Special?

Where are you at, restoration wise, at the moment ?

As the other Steven said, throw up a few pics. (If you can't post them yourself, just send them to themarcosgraveyard at eircom dot net and I'll put them up for you.

Hi Steven,

I used to have a 1960 Austin Seven which I sold to Billy on this Forum.
Let us know what stage you are at and between us all we can help you out.
It's good to hear of another Irish built Mini surviving

One little detail which Steven hasn't mentioned (and I had a great chat with him today) is his Mk1's year of manufacture. Let me put it this way. My 1960 Austin Seven is newer than it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an important car and I know Steven would appreciate any help from the older heads in the club as to how to put his car back together properly.

Get some photos up here Steven and tell the rest of the story yourself.

Good luck with the project,

Billy

Hello Steven, glad to see you joined the club.I hope your getting on well with your Seven.Don,t be afraid to ask questions, there are plenty of wise men on here. This is a site that might interest you with your early car.

http://www.1959miniregister.com/

Also if you log onto http://www.specialistminiforums.com there is a good early mini forum there.

That first site has all you need to know about identifying your car as a 59. :D

That 59register site is fascinating and I recognise a lot of the features on my own '60.

A car like this needs to be done right.

Does your Seven have combined indicator/side light Steven,as my van and Billy,s Seven had this but there is no mention of this on the 59 register and I was wondering if it was an Irish spec or something left over from English cars.

KMG - the indicator/side light thing was apparently some export spec thing that BMC had on the go at the time. I doubt it was legal here even then!

Other export spec things that didn't seem to make it here were all red rear lights including the indicators and different badging.

Old friend of the IMOC from Sweden - Micke P, has an export spec 59 as far as I know, he pops up on the Early Mini Forum from time to time

Went to see Stevens '59 mini yesterday after the monthly run and was quiet surprised to see how good the shell is.The shell is about 90% original and unfortunitly somebody who wasn't sympathetic to the originality and rearity of the car supplied the wrong panels which were then fitted. But its nothing that can't be fixed. Stevens biggest problem now is time as he wanted the car ready for the 50th. birthday.

I recon stick it on the road for next year as is and when you know more about '59s ,which you will learn in the next year, go back and do it right.

I was right about the wrong fuel pump. The bracket on the subframe is for this one AUA 103. Its on the Sommerford parts list.
