Mig Welding Course

Got talking to the teacher the other day and he is very interested in giving a day course on mig welding. He will be able to bring his own welder which has every setting you could what on it. He said that he could do powerpoint presentations and even have notes to hand out. I feel that its a great chance for people to get together and learn a lifelong skill that is so useful and have a bit of craic at the same time. I m sure a FAS course like it would cost a fortune, so i would really encourage everyone to come along and give it a shot, which nicely brings me to my next point,

I hav nt talked to him about any date or anything because it will all depend on numbers, as john joe will be giving up his saturday and is not a member of the club and knows nothing about minis, i feel its only right that we get a good turn out for it to be practical.

To facilitate everyone traveling and john joe himself it will be based round the longford area give or take,

so if u could post ur name that u would be interested and any suggestions it would be fantastic

Cheers joe

Its fantastic to see the interest that everyone has shown towards learning to weld, however it has nt materialised as fast as i had hoped due to some unexpected delays, and i m sure your as frustrated as i am. However, 2009 will see a long overdue boost to the mini scene in the west of the country!!! :P. With this in mind, i ve decided to make this the first event for the western region in janurary 2009. Stay posted, because when it takes place it ll be good

well steve

unfortunatly this one got the better of me for now, the guy i had lined up did nt want to be pinned down to a date over the summer and did nt really want to do it, and the location has changed management. Theres alot to weldin from a theory aspect that really u have to know to be a good welder, so thats why i m holdin out for now. However it ll happen at some stage. :D

Ok Ill jump in the deep end here,
As a lot of you know I run Hickey Race Engineering but I also run a small Training Company Complete Training. I am Gas weld Qualified and have taught Mig and Arc for FAS and a number of School Teachers around the Country.

I would be very happy to run this course for you guys.

However (and there is always a however) to do this right and give you guy's some sort of certificate we would need to formalise this slightly.

We would need to organize a training Centre with a workshop Equipped for welding and the proper Insurance. For this reason there will be some cost involved.

Secondly we would need to arrange some welders but looking at the above post most of you guys have a welder of some form or another so if every one brought there own that would solve that problem I could bring My indusial Mig and TIG for demonstrate.

Joebe1 If you would like to collaborate with me I cant see the organization of this being a problem.

I have a Level 2 program I can run with you guys which involves some Arc and some MIG. I will provide a hand outs and run a Power Point style Presentation the only problem I see is this course needs to be run over 2 days It was a three day course I cut down to 2 days and it is intense at 3 days let alone 2 so a 1 day course would be out of the question. thats not to say It cant be run over two separate days for examply a saturday in August and again in September and November.

Ill leave it with you guys for now,
regards,
Paul.

count me in!!
i can bring my welder along with me too..
i dont know about any workshops nearby but if you (paul) have some contacts in the Fas, they have a decent setup in the fas centre in dundalk :?:

i did 2 evening courses with the fas and am level 2 certified on arc and mig but i dont have a clue of the theory as it was pretty much all practical :? .... i can give a hand if need be showing ppl the basics anyway...
