My wheels are flaking and i was wondering about restoring them, is it an expensive job or could an average Joe like myself do the work??

Alloy wheel refurbishment is expensive, costing nearly as much as a new wheel
It can be done as a DIY job, and with a little care and lot of effort it can work out very well, obviously some wheels are easier than others, but the basic principle is the same with time spent on the preparation being the important factor. It is not a quick job though, you'll need to use a lot of Elbo-Grease.

Elbow grease with sand paper?? They're 12inch miniltes. Is there a different type of paint needed? Roughly how much would the cost be for DIY?
Appreciate the help.

Doing a set myself. I used paint remover to take off the lacquer coating on the rim.
