How did you manage to crack the sump Bobby ?

Can it be alloy welded or will you have to replace the gearbox/casing ?

been in thailand for two months so my sister had the car, she has no idea what i'm on about and is denying the lot!

it could be welded but i was thinking of getting a whole new box anyway with new gears.

any ideas on a mechanic for me?

Bobby,

Where in Cork are you? When I have something on the Mini I can't do myself, I use Mick Lillis in Fermoy at 025-31081. Definitely buy the parts yourself because most suppliers in Ireland are buying from the same UK suppliers we use but they add their own mark-up on them. Most of us here use Somerford Mini Centre http://www.somerford-mini.co.uk/ who will get the stuff to you within 3 working days.

Hope it helps. Give me a call at 087-4195640 if you need more advise.

Another old school Mini man in Cork is Dick O'Brien in Glounthaune/Little Island. He can be contacted at 021-4353226. Tell him I sent you.

No, Mick Lillis Fermoy would be older as he trained on Minis in the 60s/70s.

Had a chat with Bobby and we figured that for the work he needed doing, Ray Cunningham at Galway Mini Centre http://www.galwayminicentre.com/ would be well worth a shout.
