Hi help needed I have fitted one of the last carb 1275 engines to my clubman. It’s all plumbed and correct but is will not start, i have narrowed the problem down to fuel starvations i have carried out the blow checks,

1: I have checked the plugs and they are bone dry no petrol getting to them.

2: Checked the fuel pump and is puming fuel ok.

3: The Fuel is fine.

4: I have cleaned the carb and it’s ok.

5: Checked the exhaust and fuel values and they are opening and closing fine.

6: Taken of the exhaust and Fuel manifold and checked for blockages.

I have no more ideas. Any ideas??

Have you checked the jet and float in the carb, I presume its a HIF44.

I have sorted the problem there was a crack in the inlet manifold.

I was just going to suggest that.

Woody welded an old alloy manifold of mine, is your manifold saveable ?
