IMM Route

Post by Billy »

Folks,

On the run between Holyhead and Hull, are we confined to motorways all the way? Just thinking of the 2 Daves scenario where the last car in the convoy breaks down and the rest of us can't reverse back the motorway.

30 days to the IMM

AA 5 Star cover comes highly recommended by club members who have attended previous IMM.

Folks,
begin realistic, with the ferry checkin closing at 19.00, we only have roughly 7 hours to cover 300 miles. From past experiences you will be lucky to average 50 miles an hour with a convey of minis. Therefore, I think the motorways are the best option giving us some time to deal with easier mini problems.

66mini booked in and although DaveC is not with me i still have AA cover. See you guys in Holyhead as it is easier and cheaper for me to use Dun Laoghaire.

Anyone has a spare front weather shield i could borrow or buy

I had a look at the map and its more like 210 miles from holyhead to hull which is a little less frantic over the 7 and a half hours that we have to do it provided the ferry is on time.

Allowing an hour for stopping for the spuds and petrol along the way, the 215-mile trip (according to my UK roadmap) means we need to average 33 mph over 6.5 hours.

I'd suggest you bring a few sangers, a packet of Pringles and a bottle of orange to consume en route, save the spuds for when you get on the boat.

You will need to fill up in Dublin before you go, then again at about Manchester, especially those with van tanks and the old small tanks. Fill again before the boat in Hull and that should do you till you return.

At present petrol in Holland is €1.53/ltr while the UK is €1.38/ltr.

MiniSport Padiham and MiniSpares Harrogate are both about a half-hour detour off our route.
