Re: 61 Van resto
I never did get the GT ready for IMM 2010 but I still had a few jobs to do to the van.I replaced the carpet I cut myself with a Newton Commercial one.Very expensive but worth it for the fit.I put a small strip across the inner wheel well bottom as the rubber had rotted there but I still wanted to keep the original covering.
I also had the rear arm grease nipple shroud painted and fitted.
And I also had the steel sill seam cover painted and fitted.I had to repair the drivers side one and it took a while to get it right but I am happy enough with the fit now.I had better be as the last set of thses I saw on Ebay went for a combined £700 It is a 3 piece per side set and were only fitted for the first couple of years of production
I have also got the correct rocker cover with the oil filler attached with a bit of wire from Billy and correct metal master cyclinder tops.I have also got old rear door seals to fit as I have never been happy with the new ones I put on.I could not get the door gaps adjusted to my liking. The van has been very reliable since I put it back on the road going to IMM 2009,MTM 2010 and it has even been back to the shed where it lay from 1968 to 2007 when I bought it.I might even take it to Scotland next year.
